Well, I guess this is where I am supposed to let you have a bit more
insight into "who is Bruce, and what is he about?" That is a bit of a
complex task. My interests are many and varied, and the interests within my
interests (like my taste in music) would seem to contradict one another at times
too. I know that all sounds kinda dubious, but maybe it will seem clearer if you
care to read on.
About Me:
 | I am now 40 years old, born in Yonkers, NY. Was
transferred to Chicago 9 years ago, and now live in the Chicago burbs. I tend to
work hard and play hard, but really appreciate time to "recharge". I try
to spend time with my kids, sharing their activities with them, going to movies or places
of interest, or my favorite - just kidding around with them! I enjoy the company of
good people, and love entertaining at home. We have several "annual"
events at our place plus many other ad hoc get togethers including Barbecues, Dinner
Parties, and Movie Nights. Our regular entertaining includes:
 | Big 4th of July Barbecue with Fireworks for the neighborhood
kids.
|
 | Halloween Costume Party
|
 | Christmas Eve for misplaced folks (all our friends/acquaintances
with no family nearby)
|
 | Superbowl Party
|
When I am not at work, with my kids, or entertaining, I am usually
one of three places; on ICQ (probably talking with most of you reading this page!),
playing golf with my buddies (I am a real hacker), or just driving aimlessly with the top
down and music blasting. The cold weather in Chicagoland poses a real problem with
two out of three of those, so you can guess that I prefer the warmer seasons! More
on my favorite passtimes in detail below.

My Family

I am married to my wife Susan for almost 12 years now, and we have
two wonderful children, C.J. (Christian James) age 8, and Gabrielle (I call her Gigi) age
6. Check out the pictures in the Photo Gallery.
Susan

 | Susan is also 40 years old, born in Brooklyn, NY. She is a
stay-at-home mom, and spends most of her time delivering the kids from activity to
activity. I really can't comprehend how she keeps it all straight, because just the
weekend events alone test my ability to remember who has to be where when, and working out
the logistics and timing of getting from one event to the next!
|
 | Her favorite hobbies are making porcelain dolls, playing Bunko with her friends, dressing her
daughter, and enjoying her friends.
|
C.J.

 | C.J. is almost 8 years old and was born just after we moved to
Chicagoland. He is in the 3rd grade and loves school. He is a "young
astronaut", which is a program that teaches kids about space and flight, and they
build and fly model rockets. He is also a cub scout and looks forward to the
campouts in the warmer weather.
|
 | His favorite hobby is by far VIDEO GAMES! He also likes
using the computer, playing with legos, torturing his cats, and antagonizing his sister!
He also plays ice hockey, baseball, tennis, and swims.
|
Gabrielle

 | Gigi is 6 years old, and also born in Chicagoland. She is
in kindergarten, and also loves school. She is a Daisy scout, and takes ballet and
jazz dance. She used to be in a singing group called "the Sunshine
Generation" which she enjoyed very much, but our local chapter closed unfortunately.
|
 | Her favorite hobbies are precision ice skating, playing dolls
and house with her friends, torturing the cats, and antagonizing her brother!!! She
competes on a precision ice skating team and is looking forward to this season's
competitions. If you don't know what precision is, it is like the synchronized
swimming of ice skating.

My Work

 | I work for a major international investment bank in the IT
division, right now focussing primarily on Year 2000 issues. My work takes me very
frequently to London, and occasionally to New York. Although I spend way too much of
my life on planes and in airports these days, I look forward to going to Hong Kong,
Singapore, Tokyo, Australia, Switzerland, and Frankfurt.
|
 | I used to be a very technical person at one point in my life,
specializing in early distributed processing and options valuation and risk. At some
point I came to a fork in the road and had to choose between a "Management"
path, and a "Technical Specialist" path. I chose the
"Management" one, and try not to look back with too many regrets, although I
feel out of touch with "real" technology every so often.
